Everything you need to know about Apple model numbers

What do the numbers in the description and title of Apple products in our shop mean? The answer to this question is basically very simple. They are the model numbers of Apple devices. As an alternative to model number, they can also be called A-number, as all model numbers start with an A.

Which devices have a model number?

Basically, all Apple devices have a model number. This is structured according to the same scheme for all devices. It looks like this: Axxxx, i.e. a capital A followed by four numbers. So it is not immediately obvious from the model number what kind of device it is. The model numbers have been assigned to all units since the first generation.

How do I find the model number?

On iPhones and iPads, the model number is printed on the back. You can find it in the small print under the iPhone or iPad logo. For MacBooks, you'll find the model number on the bottom. It's in the small print under the MacBook logo.

What is the model number for?

The model number helps you determine which model of a device you own. Since Apple does not simply write the model name and generation on the device, this may be the only way to determine it. Alternatively, this data can also be retrieved in the settings of the device. However, this is often not possible for defective devices. Therefore, if you do not know the model name and generation by heart, the model number can make the search for spare parts much easier. Conversely, the model number can also be useful for identifying which Spare parts are compatible with your unit.

How do I find out which number represents which model?

You can find the model numbers for all Apple devices on the Apple website. This makes it easy to check which model has the same number as your device. To find Spare parts in our shop this is not necessary at all. To save you this step, all spare parts for Apple devices in our shop contain the model numbers of the devices with which they are compatible in the title and/or in the description.
